Ugh! My silver Jewellery has tarnished!

cleaning jewellery silver

Just so you know - all silver jewellery will tarnish over time. However, knowing that doesn't mean it's not annoying to reach for a piece of jewellery only to find it's looking less than it's best!

The best prevention for tarnishing is to keep your jewellery away from the air when you're not wearing it - a sealed plastic bag is a good way to do this.

So how do we get rid of tarnish?
A quick Google search will find a multitude of ways to clean silver - but which one is best?  Well, I've done the research for you. I've tried a heap of ways and can give you the skinny.

The best home remedy is the Aluminium foil and baking soda method. You can find a great video for how to do this here. It's great because it uses things you already have at home and is low on smelly chemicals.

I don't usually have the time to do it this way as I'm often running out the door so I instead I give my jewellery a quick dunk in a professional silver jewellery cleaning solution.
You can buy cleaning solution at any jewellery shop. I have Connoisseurs SILVER cleaning solution but there are other brands out there too, such as Hagerty. The solution usually costs around $30 and will last for at least a couple of years. Please do read the instructions carefully! You can also get a jewellery cleaning cloth from a jewellery store which is effective, but not so easy to get into nooks and crannies in your jewellery.
As always, I hope you're well and thriving. Let me know if you have any jewellery needs right now - and, connect with me on Facebook or Instagram to see the latest happenings.

Cheers,
