I just wanted to give you a quick update on where you can find Pretty Birds Jewellery as we come into the 2021 Christmas season (eek! less than 50 days - seriously?) Have a look below where to find my jewellery.

It does get busy from now on out and NZ Post has let us know that delivery times may be longer this year. It will take me time to make your items so remember to factor that in too.
Christmas cut off for deliveries is:
NZ Courier: Tuesday 21st December
Australia: Friday 3rd December
Rest of the World: Wednesday 24th November

Enjoy,
Lee

Sterling Silver Fan Earrings

These fan earrings are a variation on a pair I made  in 2020 - now in a lighter weight wire and with that urban cool vibe. They're available online here and at Sollos in The Colombo in Christchurch.

Also new! Shiny with lots of movement, these earrings are a great option if you want a bit of length without bulk.

Ugh! My silver jewellery has tarnished!

It's so annoying to reach for a piece of jewellery only to find it's looking less than it's best.

Silver jewellery becomes tarnished when it's exposed to sulphurous compounds in the air. The best prevention is to keep your jewellery away from the air when you're not wearing it - a sealed plastic bag is a good way to do this.

So how do we get rid of tarnish?

A quick Google search will find a multitude of ways to clean silver - but which one is best?  Well, I've done the research for you. I've tried a heap of ways and can give you the skinny.

The best home remedy is the Aluminium foil and baking soda method. You can find a great video for how to do this here. It's great because it uses things you already have at home and is low on smelly chemicals.

I don't usually have the time to do it this way as I'm often running out the door so I instead I give my jewellery a quick dunk in a professional silver jewellery cleaning solution. I've posted a video on Instagram (sound on) showing the best way to do this - it takes 2 minutes all up - nice and quick. Click through to have a look.

You can buy cleaning solution at any jewellery shop. I have Connoisseurs SILVER cleaning solution but there are other brands out there too, such as Hagerty. The solution usually costs around $30 and will last for at least a couple of years. Please do read the instructions carefully! You can also get a jewellery cleaning cloth from a jewellery store which is effective, but not so easy to get into nooks and crannies in your jewellery.
As always, I hope you're well and thriving. Let me know if you have any jewellery needs right now - and, connect with me on Facebook or Instagram to see the latest happenings.
